About Church

St. Stephen’s Bes – Ania Jacobite Syrian Church, Chelad, which is also called “Thekkilakkattu Bes Ania Church”, comes under Kothamangalam zone of Ankamali Diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, under the Holy Apostolic See of Antioch and All the East. Of the 160 church under Angamali Diocese, this church always stood, a role model in discipline: worship: spiritual activities and cordial relationship with all other factions of the Christian Community and other religions

Chelad situates 5 kilometers north of Kothamangalam, 18 kilometers south of Edamalayar Dam and 5 kilometers south of Bhoothathankettu Dam.  The Thattekkad Birds Sanctuary is hardly 8 kilometers east of Chelad.  The proposed Atomic Energy Station’s site, Pooyamkutty, is 20 kilometers north east of Chelad.

Constitution
St.Stephen’s Bes-Ania Church was established in 1871.  The church followed the rules that were made in Kolla Varsham 10.  In 2005 a meeting of the parishioners prepared a new constitution combining the old and the constitution of Jacobite Syrian Christian Association parish Metropolitan and catholilcate consented for its registration in 2005.
Constituent Assembly
Managing committee includes the Vicar, Assistant vicar and 23 elected members of the parish.  One committee last for 2 years.  Two trustees of school board members are selected from the committee.
Staff
As per the instruction of the committee an accountant, a clerk, two sextons, attender, sales man and two sweepers work in church..
Bible Conventions
Conventions started in the year……….with the efforts of two priests in the parish Rev.Father Geevarghese Mattamana and Rev.Fr.Skariah Nedumthallil.  Conventions are conducted as a part of main feast.  Thousands of people come to hear the conventional speeches.
Parish Hall
There is a parish hall adjacent to the main church for conducting various celebrations like wedding and family meeting.  School Auditorium at Keerampara and Oonjapara are also utilized for such functions.
Shopping Complex
Shopping Complexes are built on the west side of the church.  It’s a means of permanent income to the church and it facilitates shopping.
STALL
A stall close to the church provides offering to the devotees who visit church and Thekke Cruze.
